Organ Aftersound Transcendence

Installations and oil paintings

The entire music played by the masters from different historical periods and of different sensitivities is sublimated in these installations that illustrate and materialize my subjective experience of the sound of their organs as well as the general atmosphere of their music. In my paintings they are being transformed into the very essence of colour and its symbolism, or into mixed technique relief-paintings done on the inspiration of the moment.

The composition of the exhibited paintings is always defined by my fascination with the organ as a constructional – architectural support, pipes as pillars for conveying the sound of the organ.

Deliberate changes of style are closely connected to the style characteristics of the historical periods the composers who inspired particular paintings lived in. Organ, as an instrument of almost unlimited tonal-colouring potential, through its rich register range and numerous colouristic effects, implicates the use of colour as an element that can be divided and used on different levels, from philosophical-spiritual when contemplating semiotic aspects of music, to the emotion-charged zest while playing.

In art, as a creation that in its ideal form derives from the emanation of the Idea, the very notion of emission implies the notion of light, thus we can express visual arts through music, same as we can express music through visual arts.
