"ORGAN…THE ENERGY OF SPIRIT"

The book deals with issues of learning to play the organ, approaching them in a somewhat different manner than that of classical pedagogy, that is, learning to use different techniques aimed at raising the musician’s awareness, in order to help him/her overcome technical problems more easily, but also to help him/her achieve emotional stability and orientation toward spiritual awareness needed in a musician.

Quotes:

...being a very demanding instrument, organ draws vast quantities of a musician’s physical and mental potential, necessarily leading him/her to look for the new ways in overcoming the problems in learning or playing more quickly and more easily...

...being a musician necessarily requires a certain level of spiritual awareness, perhaps even a somewhat philosophical approach, which together with emotional awareness, and following a very strict rational setup may, through a synergy of all elements, certainly provide a satisfactory final result not only in organ playing but in being a musician as such...

"The Art of Organ"

The collection of essays on organ music and its correlation with visual arts, architecture, and literature, trough reflections on musical forms for organ and their transformation in different historical periods. The author also reviews the interconnection of European and Croatian organ-playing, on examples taken from works of a number of composers, placing particular emphasis on works by F. Mendelssohn, F. Liszt, C. Franck, J. Brahms, M. Duruflé, and O. Messiaen.

Quotes:

... Messiaen was chosen, same as Coelho’s “the warrior of light”…it was given to him to condense Art into One through his music, and through his virtuosity penetrate visual aspects of music and give it visual overtones...

...At the same time, he was given the talent to build through his music the monument ‘more permanent than iron’, to philosophically transform music into a religion, and religion into music, as well as to learn the Primary Source and come to the Revelation...
